Wild Hive Farm Bakery & Cafe in Clinton Corners

The word is out on this wonderful café.wild-hive-farm-logo

Rural Intelligence (read here) has written it up; my good friends, Barry and Rosey Lyons Chase raved about it; and my son, who knows Don Lewis, the proprietor and long time Union Square Green Market veteran, told me to get there and check it out.   And, now I’ve been there and I’m saying it’s wonderful!!  Here’s the scoop:

  • It’s local
  • It sells local products
  • Has its own bakery which uses ONLY local freshly stone milled whole grain flour.  (They mill locally grown organic grains every week!)
  • Serves breakfast, lunch and take out meals on Friday through Sunday
  • They have free Wi Fi
  • So accessible and easy to get to:  2 minutes off the Taconic State Parkway, Salt Point Turnpike exit (Go East) Click here for Map

don-lewis-wild-hive-farmTake a road trip this weekend.    Stop at Wild Hive (tell them Hammertown sent you).  Have a country breakfast or lunch, get some local fare to take home, and then visit Hammertown…in Rhinebeck or Pine Plains.

  1. Wow this sounds great! We’ll have to check this out. We’d heard that the new bakery was there, and so close to home. What took us so long!!!

  2. Since we used to live on Shcultzville Road, a “short” walk from the Wild Hive, we couldn’t wait to drop in and try something. After filling up on yummy sweets and homemade breads, we couldn’t wait to go back. Have been back for breakfast and lunch. The room is sunny and bright and their French Toast is like no other……. delicious, memorable and well worth the trip! If you enjoy healthy, flavorful, homemade food, you must drop in! And best of all, you’ll be supporting sustainable farming and helping our local farmers. What could be better?

  3. We used to buy Wild Hive products from Don at the Poughkeepsie Farm Project, and then at Adams. We were thrilled when the cafe opened, and had an absolutely delicious meal there a few weeks ago. The food was outstanding and incredibly filling, and the service was great as well.
