Vote where your heart is!

Since many of our Hammertown customers have second homes here in the Hudson Valley, we thought we would pass on some information about an online organization called CountryVote.org.   First and foremost… this organization is not affiliated with any political party and neither are we at Hammertown.  This is simply a great source of information for people with dual residences in New York State.

COUNTRYVOTE

There are so many local issues right now that have an impact on anyone who owns (or even rents) property in our region: over-development of existing open spaces; the protection of farmland and wetlands; property taxes; road maintenance…all kinds of things that affect you personally.

What some of you might not know is that New Yorkers have the right to choose where they vote if they own or rent more than one home.  As a New Yorker, you don’t necessarily have to vote where you spend the work week.  If you have a place in the country, too, you’re free to vote where you believe your vote matters most.  (See answers to common questions here)

Clearly, in a region with a lower population your vote simply “counts” more, so please do visit www.countryvote.org to find out how and why to “vote where your heart is”.

Change of registration forms (available on the website above) must be postmarked 25 days before the election or primary you want to vote in.  Several local elections are coming up this fall (November 3rd ) so don’t wait too long to get your forms and send them in.
