Great Food -  Local Produce – Tractor Pull – Pony Rides
Face Painting – Tag Sale – and more Food!

This year’s Second Annual Ancram Community Days offers a variety of activities and fun for all ages, with a special focus on children. Organizer Jim Miller, Ancram town board member, notes the proceeds from most of this year’s activities will go to the Ancram Youth Commission to help build a playground for children ages two to 14 near Ancram Town Hall.

On Saturday, August 14, the fun starts with a tractor pull beginning at 9 a.m. on the Ancram Town Hall property. At the same location, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., children can enjoy a water slide, pony rides, face painting, milk shakes, looking at exotic amphibians, and more while their parents, grandparents, and friends can buy tickets for a special auction of gifts just for children. Vendors will sell T-shirts and caps, fresh baked bread, local farm produce, and more.

From 9 a.m. to noon, the Ancram Fire Co. has arranged for representatives from Sausbiers to fill, recharge (if possible), and sell fire extinguishers to the public.

The Ancram Hotel will sell breakfast; attendees can buy lunch from either the Ancram Fire Co. or the Ancram Hotel.

In Ancram Town Hall, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Clara Van Tassel, Ancram town historian, will show the DVD “Ancram 1985,” plus she and Robin Massa will scan old family photos and pictures of historic places into the town’s historic archives.

At 11 a.m., the Ancram Preservation Group will present to the town the 1856 Ancram Quilt, created by Mary Moon Rockefeller, which includes names of family and neighbors embroidered into the quilt. Also on display will be three original collages, featuring images from town historic archives, created by local artist Lynne Perrella.

Special sets of notecards* featuring images of the quilt (photographed by B. Docktor), vintage farm photos, plus images of the collages will be offered for sale, with all proceeds helping build the new playground.

Back at Ancram Town Hall, the Ancram Fire Co. will offer their award-winning chicken barbeque from 5 to 7 p.m. Call 329-3430 to reserve.

On Sunday, August 15, Ancram Community Days will conclude with an all-faith service at the Ancramdale Presbyterian Church at 9:30 a.m., followed by a potluck brunch at 11 a.m. in Fellowship Hall next door.
