Little Gates & Co. Wine Merchants

Little Gates & Co. hit the Millerton business scene just a couple years ago…and what a great addition they are!   What I really love about Little Gates is the thoughtfulness with which they choose their wines and in how they talk (and listen) to customers who are looking for recommendations.

photo from rural intelligence“We do not believe that buying wine needs to be intimidating or complicated.  Nor should it necessarily be expensive,” says co-owner, Andrew Gates.

Little Gates focuses mostly on hand-made wines from importers who support sustainable farming practices and smaller vitners “who produce carefully and traditionally crafted wines.”‘

That’s something we, at Hammertown, really appreciate in any business!

Inflammation:The Silent Epidemic (from Health Counselor, Caroline Phipps)

Posted September 16th, 2009

In a recent session with Joan, I proudly remarked that my fingers had become thinner. A whole ring size actually! This happened miraculously after I had added a number of anti-inflammatory foods to my diet. During my training at The Institute For Integrative Nutrition in New York, I had been fortunate enough to study with doctors Mark Hyman, Barry Sears and Andrew Weil. They all had the same message – one of the most important things you can do to be healthy is to get rid of inflammation.

Food, Inc. is a “Must-See” Film!

Posted July 6th, 2009

One thing we know about our online community…they LOVE food.  That’s why we’re encouraging our readers to see the new film, “Food, Inc.” This riveting film is a cautionary tale that connects the dots with an upbeat style and skillfully untangles the twisted knot of farm policy, lobbying, engineering, and corporate greed that has drastically altered ...
